10 Tricks To Get A Top Comment On Youtube

I have seen a lot of people who try very hard just to get a top comment on Youtube. While I don’t get what’s the fuss of intentionally aiming to get to the top comment, this still caught my curiosity. So, I began to look at several of the top comments on Youtube and attempted to determine why they became top comments. Here are some of the things that I found out.

Pro Tip: Of course, before you get started, you should first find a popular video.

1. Write a thought-provoking comment

Perhaps, this is the most obvious way of getting likes, but if you think that it’s too hard for you, then read on.

2. Point out not-so-obvious things in the video

This may sound difficult but it’s a lot easier than you think. Just be a little more attentive when watching the video and you will eventually find some useless details in the video. Remember that most of these things happen in the background so you need to include a time link in the video (e.g. In 3:18, did you see that guy who almost tripped?). You would be surprised at how many people would make a big deal out of those trivial details and in the process, you will get your likes.

3. Be nostalgic!

Ah, good old times… Every time we hear an old music or see an old film, we tend to reminisce about the past. So, comment on videos of old songs, old movies or old games (Tetris and Super Mario Bros, anyone?) about the good old days and many people will relate.

4. Paste the lyrics of the song

This works pretty well especially if the video has no lyrics or if it’s not yet done in the description and the comments section. Many people who watch music videos would want to know the lyrics and they’ll probably like your comment if they see it as a thank you for sparing them the trouble of finding the lyrics themselves.

5. Who still watches this in 2017?

If you write this comment on an old but popular video, you will be assured that many people are indeed still watching that video currently. The only problem with this is that you have many competitions who basically write the same thing.

6. Who watches this (Christmas song) in April?

This works like a charm. Go to a popular Christmas song video during any month but December and ask who watches the video, and voila! You get your likes.

7. Pretend to be a child who appreciates old stuff

I am an avid listener of classical music. Every time I listen to some on Youtube, I always see some comments like, “Hey, I’m 8, but I really like this kind of music”… This type of comment seems to earn the favors of many Youtubers.

8. Be funny

If you have a sense of humor, you can easily do it. Include a joke, a wisecrack or even a bad pun in your comment that is relevant to the video. If you don’t have a good sense of humor, all is not lost. In many cases, the worse the joke, the more likes it gets!

9. Say something stupid

I’m not totally sure why it works, but it’s really effective. Have you seen a comment that goes something like “NASA said that there are only 7 million people in this world. So how come the video has 200 million views?”. It’s so idiotic on so many levels but it still got so much likes.

10. Ask for it!

This may be the easiest way of getting comment likes out there (excluding those blackhat hacking methods). Give a stupid reason why people should like your comment and it usually works.
