Emerson’s is a bit like the saying “Buy cheap, pay twice.” 🙂

The opposite of “buy once, cry once” perhaps.

Sometimes paying more the first time is worth it. When my family lived in China, my dad would buy these cheap headphones from a little market for himself and my sister. They cost 10 yuan, so less than $2. I wonder if it would have better to just pull the trigger and buy more expensive headphones, given that he would buy a new set every few weeks…

My HKD1500 (around $200) Sennheiser headphone is still excellent after 8 years. I only had to replace the pads from time to time. It’s definitely a great buy.

You’ve reminded me of an old colleague I worked with who wouldn’t pay more than seven pounds for earphones because they kept breaking.
