  1. Here is an other Fun Fact: I ‘ve Just woke up! Still feel sleepy, and I have read this post with one eye open, the other eye closed lol, like if I open both eyes I can’t get back to sleep .. I enjoyed reading this post ( number 5 though!!)😅

  2. Two other points about sleep:
1: you can literally die from lack of sleep, that’s how vital it is.
2: Despite the fact everyone does it, and have done since the dawn of time, no one can provide a definite reason as to Why we sleep. The world’s leading sleep researcher (William Dement) once said that the only definite reason he knows why people sleep is because “we get sleepy.”

  3. Interesting stuff.
On the point, do animals dream?, I suspect dogs do. We have two dogs and they have periods of activity whilst asleep which suggests they do. This can be either barking, growling, yelping and whining, and often moving their legs as if running or violently kicking out.
The thing I don’t get is, if they are dreaming, they’re very animated, whereas we understand now that when humans dream, the brain puts the limbs in temporarily paralysis. It is thought so that no harm becomes us. There are people who do move about when dreaming but it is thought to be an abnormal function.

    1. Personally, I believe that animals dream too. I had a dog that did what you described. Also, one time, I suspect that he was sleep-walking. While sleeping, I saw the dog start moving his legs. Gradually, he seemed to wake up and begin to walk, but he walked in an awkward manner which made me believe that he’s still asleep. Suddenly, he slammed into a wall and he was evidently startled.

I have told this to my colleauges (mathematicians) and to other scientists who I know, but no one believed me. They insist the dog was already awake albeit not fully.
